“The battle in which you are locked today is the mother of all battles…Our rendezvous with victory is very near, Allah willing.” - Saddam Hussein
"for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory." - Deuteronomy 20:4
For many years I thought about writing about my experience in the Gulf War. It is one of the most significant events in my life. It is something that has changed me forever. Why am I writing about it now? If not now, I may never write about it. So I decided to start this personal journal to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Gulf War. I will rely on letters I wrote home, along with other research I’ve been doing for the last 3 years. I hope to have an accurate account of the events that will be mentioned, as well as an honest portrayal of my personal experience.
But perhaps the most important reason I am writing this journal is for the inspiration I believe it may serve others. You'll see what I mean as the end approaches. The most amazing things that have ever happened in my life happened during this war. I would be selfish to not share them. It is a testimony of perseverance. It is a testimony of strength. Most of all, it is a testimony of faith. So this is my story. I hope you enjoy it.
Nothing is impossible. The word itself says "I'm possible."
For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
